What Happens in an Early Intervention Substance Use Program?

If you’ve been referred to an Early Intervention program by the court, you might be wondering what to expect. Is it just another hoop to jump through? Will it be worth your time?

At Comprehensive Counseling Solutions of Virginia, we designed our Clean Start Early Intervention Program to be more than a checkbox — it's a supportive space to reflect, reset, and move forward.

Here’s what to expect:

1.  It starts with a professional assessment We begin with a one-on-one clinical assessment to determine what level of care you actually need. For many first-time or low-risk cases, Early Intervention (Level 0.5) is appropriate.

2. You’ll attend the recommended number of group sessions. (usually from 8 to 10 is recommended). These sessions are educational, engaging, and supportive. Topics include decisionmaking, consequences, coping skills, triggers, and how substance use impacts the brain and body.

3. You’ll walk away with a certificate — and some clarity At the end of the program, you’ll receive a completion certificate and more importantly, you’ll walk away with tools to make more empowered choices moving forward.

This isn’t just about compliance — it’s about confidence. Ready for your clean start?
